From seed to seam

Every Nelberry piece is made start to finish in Tamil Nadu. Farmers grow the cotton, then spinners, knitters, dyers, and tailors around Tiruppur turn it into clothes. We make them for your team, your brand, or your event, and soon for you too.

From seed to seam, in five chapters

  1. 01 The fields

    It starts with cotton

Our clothes start in the cotton fields outside Tiruppur, with cotton grown by farmers here in Tamil Nadu. It doesn’t get shipped in from somewhere else first.

  2. 02 Tiruppur

Spun and knit down the road

Spinners turn the cotton into yarn, and knitters and weavers turn the yarn into fabric. They all work within a short drive of the fields. Tiruppur has been making T-shirts for the rest of the world for decades, so the skill here runs deep.

  3. 03 Avinashi · Unjapalayam · Thulukamuthur

    Made by neighbors

Small family workshops in the villages around Tiruppur dye, cut, and sew every piece. We know the people who run them, and we grew up alongside some of them. We work with them directly, and when a big order comes in, the work stays in the village.

  4. 04 The finishing table

Your logo, put on here too

We do the printing and embroidery in the same region, with people who do it all day. Your shirts never get passed between three suppliers in three countries, so nothing gets lost along the way.

  5. 05 The world

Then out the door, with their name on it

Tiruppur’s makers have sewn for famous labels for years, and almost nobody knows who they are. Every Nelberry order is paid work for them, under a label that says exactly where it was made.

Why one place matters

Every step happens within a short drive, so we can keep an eye on all of it

  • We can tell you who made it

Ask where your order was grown, knit, or sewn, and we’ll tell you, down to the village.

  • Problems get fixed quickly

If a color is off or a seam isn’t right, someone drives over that afternoon. We don’t have to chase a factory by email.

  • No middlemen

There’s no agent or trading company between us and the workshops. We deal with them ourselves, from the first sample to the final count.

Print or embroider? The short version

Screen printing
The cheapest per shirt once you’re ordering about 50 or more. It works best with bold designs in a few colors.
DTF (direct to film)
Full color on any fabric, from a single piece up. It’s a good all-rounder for detailed artwork.
DTG (direct to garment)
Photo-quality prints that feel soft to the touch. It looks best on 100% cotton.
Sublimation
Prints all over the garment, edge to edge. It’s for polyester, which makes it a good fit for sports jerseys.
Vinyl (HTV)
Cut and pressed on. It’s the right choice for names, numbers, and simple logos.
Embroidery
Stitched into the fabric, so it often outlasts the garment. It looks great on hoodies, caps, and uniforms.

Not sure which one you need? That’s our job. Send us the design and we’ll tell you.
